2019 JURY PANEL

GIL AREVALO

Starting out as a TV writer at HBO and MTV, Gil realized his passion went beyond scripts. His true love lay at the intersection of technology and nerdom, Ideation and invention. So he left the entertainment side for agency life and spent the next 11 years working at shops big and small, digital and traditional, General and Multicultural­–solving problems and inventing new ways to communicate for his clients. His work on Mercedes-Benz, Burger King, Unicef, and several others has been recognized by award shows around the world. When not solving problems for clients he can be found schoolin’ digital natives at Miami Ad School.

GLORIA DUSENBERRY

Gloria is a Copywriter / Creative Director with over 15 years of experience in multicultural, US, and Global markets. She has worked on brands ranging from Disney Parks, Kraft Foods, ScJohnson, Coca-Cola, P&G Always and many others. Her work has been featured on How and Communication Arts magazines and she’s won Effies, Cannes Lions, Kinsale Sharks, and shortlisted on FIAP and many others.

SERGIO MATSUNAGA

Originally from Brazil, Sergio Matsunaga (AKA Jaspion) has spent more than 25 years trying to move from advertising to surfing. As you can see, he failed. Big. Currently he is an Associate Creative Director at TBWA\Media Arts Lab Miami.

Before joining Media Arts Lab he had worked for the community in Miami and top creative Brazilian agencies, such as Almap/BBDO, DM9DDB, AGE, Ogilvy Brazil, Lew’Lara\TBWA, Dentsu, Publicis, and had a short experience in British advertising at W+K London.

During his career he has worked with the world’s biggest brands, including Apple, Nokia, Volkswagen, Toyota, Audi, Sony, MTV, Telefonica, Häagen-Dazs, GM, BAT, Philips, J&J, Nissin Foods, among others.

He has won prestigious accolades in the industry, including several awards in Brazil, Cannes, New York Festivals, FIAP and El Ojo. When you can’t find Sergio trying to move his career to surfing, you may find him cooking Japanese food or feijoada with friends.
