At the start of my term as your D10 Governor, I didn’t know my tag “BE BOLD. Be Original. Lead Different” would be so prophetic, specifically, the Lead Different part.
Over the course of the last several weeks we have been reinventing ourselves: our relationships with our families, our neighbors, our community, and certainly our employees and clients. While this COVID-19 Pandemic will forever change our lives, it also provides us a rare opportunity for introspection, as well as proving how resilient we are as an industry.
As an industry, we immediately shifted our focus to being informative and cohesive:  #StayHome. Our brand leaders – global, national, and local – have all stepped up and directed the message to one of strength, support, and perseverance.
Did this pandemic change our bottom line? Certainly, and it will be tough for many of us to bounce back.  But these challenging times have also given us a uniquely different window through which to look at our industry. These are opportunities we would have never explored had it not been for this moment in time.
So my message is the same, yet with a different focus; BE BOLD! BE ORIGINAL to the mission of AAF “As the Unifying Voice For Advertising.”  But LEAD DIFFERENT in this ever changing and challenging industry.
